Refinishing Ideas: Thomasville Buffet/Server

I love working with people who are money conscious. They like to save money; so when they want to get new-looking furniture for their home, they either refinish what they have or buy a piece second-hand and have it refinished or restored. That is exactly what my customers did with this piece. This older Thomasville Buffet/Server was purchased from an individual and brought to me for a face lift. They wanted an antique and distressed finish with a distressed wooden top. I stripped the top, distressed, re-stained, and added a clear coat. On the bottom portion I cleaned, prepped, and went over the existing finish in a creamy antique white paint and then went back over and distressed the piece by taking off paint here and there exposing parts of the stained finish underneath. I also added wormholes and a few dents to give it that authentic look. I then added a clear coat for protection. The finished piece took on a completely new look, and my customers loved it. It was like they had bought brand new furniture. Remember that here at The Painted Door, we deal in all finishes. We can make any furniture piece take on a whole new look, so give us a call or email us with pictures of your pieces and we would be happy to give you a quote.
